Something from the ashes
A recent survey quoted by Dana Milbank found that 80 percent of Republicans believe that President Trump "provides the United States with moral leadership."
I wonder if that figure includes those of us conservatives who have been Republicans all of our adult lives but have left the Republican Party as we have watched it trade reason and integrity for the promise of support from and power for its "base?"
Hopefully after the inevitable Democratic victories in November something good will rise from the ashes of what was once the GOP.
Dems' demeanor revealing
The demeanor of the Democratic leadership at the State of the Union Address was so telling. It is so apparent their worst fears have been realized. Donald Trump has jump-started the economy and put more money into the pockets of working Americans. Oh my God, what will he succeed at next?
What will Walden do?
107,000 of U.S. Congressman Greg Walden’s constituents were signed up for expanded Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act. That is one of the highest numbers of Medicaid enrollments of all congressional districts in the country. This Medicaid protection provides access to good health care for those 107,000 people.
According to the Mail Tribune’s “Since You Asked” column Jan. 28, voters in Walden’s congressional district voted convincingly in favor of Measure 101, which provides for continued funding for this expanded Medicaid in Oregon. Walden’s constituents want to keep expanded Medicaid and that access to good health care for Oregonians.
Republican Congressman Walden has worked to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which would abolish that access to good health care for those 107,000 people.
Will Walden now work to represent his constituents’ wishes and see that the federal government protects medicaid expansion, or do we need a new congressperson?
The governors of the states of California, Oregon and Washington as well as several others have declared their states to be "sanctuary states" and in direct defiance of existing federal law they now bar their law enforcement agencies from assisting ICE agents in their lawful pursuit of illegal aliens. And now we have the mayors of several cities, including Ashland, as well as several colleges, including SOU, declaring themselves to be "sanctuaries" for illegal aliens, aka "undocumented immigrants" or more correctly "undocumented Democrats."
At the same time we have "Dicky" Durbin, "Chucky" Schumer and "Nanny" Pelosi disregarding federal law as well as the security of over 320 million American citizens as they pander to the 700,000 to 800,000 so-called "Dreamers" living in this country under the Obamination's DACA policy which, it should be noted, is not a law. In actual fact, with chain and lottery migration adding to the influx, the number is closer to 1.2 million illegal aliens, but who's counting? As a result of these actions, I propose that the acronym DACA, which supposedly means Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, be changed to properly reflect its actual effect if not purpose, specifically, Democratic Amnesty for Criminal Aliens.
