COASTWIDE: South Coast ocean anglers can expect a little wind but decent seas for chinook salmon and bottomfishing through the weekend. Forecasts call for 15-knot winds and 3-foot swells today, then 5-knot winds and 3-foot swells Saturday and winds back up to 15 knots Sunday. Mornings will be better than afternoons, as usual.

OCEAN OUTLOOK

COASTWIDE: South Coast ocean anglers can expect decent seas to go along with much improved chinook salmon fishing through the weekend. Forecasts call for 10-knot winds and 4-foot swells today, then 10-knot winds and 5- to 6-foot swells through the rest of the weekend. Morning will be more doable than afternoons, based on typical wind patterns for midsummer.

COASTWIDE: Gale and hazardous seas warnings are in effect for the South Coast through tonight, then the forecast calls for a messy Saturday but a Sunday that will bring 5-knot winds and 7-foot swells. It's payback for an excellent ocean last weekend and earlier this week that helped fill coolers with lingcod and other bottomfish.

COASTWIDE: Light winds and excellent seas are forecast off Southern Oregon through the weekend, with 10-knot winds and three-foot swells forecast today and Saturday then 5-knot winds and slightly smaller seas Sunday. That should bode well for bottomfish and salmon trips through the weekend.

COASTWIDE: Small-craft advisories and hazardous seas warnings have been issued through tonight, but look for winds and seas to settle down through the Fourth of July weekend to where Sunday and Monday look very good for ocean access. Fifteen-knot winds and 5-foot waves are forecast for Saturday and 5-knot winds and 6-foot swells Sunday. That's doable for those with decent sea-legs.
