OCEAN OUTLOOK

COASTWIDE: Small-craft and hazardous seas advisories are in effect for the Southern Oregon coast through Sunday, with 30-knot winds and nine-foot seas forecast. That will but a lid on salmon, bottomfish and tuna angling and discourage clammers looking to take advantage of some upcoming minus tides.

When anglers do return to the ocean, they must stay inside the 20-fathom line while fishing for rockfish to reduce pressure on...

OCEAN OUTLOOK

COASTWIDE: The ocean off Southern Oregon will become progressively choppy and windy as the weekend progresses, and that could steer some anglers off the ocean despite improved salmon catches off Brookings and a steady rockfish bite. COASTWIDE: The ocean off Southern Oregon will be more than a bit windy and squirrely heading into the weekend, but the weather will improve incrementally as it goes. Winds of 20 to 25 knots are forecast for today with wind waves of 6 to 9 feet near Brookings. That's not good. Saturday the winds will abate to 15 knots with 4- to 6-foot waves. Today's forecast calls for 10-knot winds and seven-foot wells, followed Saturday by 10-knot winds and six-foot swells. Sunday looks best with five-knot winds and five-foot swells. No advisories are forecast off Oregon this weekend, but expect rain.

OCEAN OUTLOOK

Look for winds around five knots off the South Coast and two-foot swells today, giving way to 10-knot winds and three-foot swells Saturday. Sunday looks a little rougher but still very good with 15-knot winds and two- to three-foot...

OCEAN OUTLOOK

COASTWIDE: A small-craft advisory that has been on the books the past two days will give way today to some bumpy weekend water along the South Coast. Winds today will increase to 20 knots, and 4-foot wind waves will be matched with 6-foot swells for a lumpy ocean. Saturday will bring 10-knot winds and 11-foot swells, followed Sunday by 15-knot winds and 10-foot swells. That could lead to some early-morning rockfish fishing for those with.....

OCEAN OUTLOOK

COASTWIDE: Ocean anglers took a hit this week when Wednesday and Thursday storms roiled near-shore waters and high winds battered the coast. No advisories were issued Thursday for this weekend, so that's a start. But 15-knot winds and 11-foot swells are forecast for today out of Brookings, then 10-knot winds and seven-foot swells through the weekend. That could lead to some early morning rockfish fishing for those with larger boats...

OCEAN OUTLOOK

COASTWIDE: Ocean anglers enjoyed excellent bottomfishing success this past week, and conditions should be good enough to keep hitting the water in the morning for great mixes of lingcod and black rockfish, with the occasional vermilion tossed in for good measure.

Limits of lings and rockfish are coming in daily from Coos Bay and Brookings, with the occasional trip heading out of Gold Beach. Water conditions are forecast to be...

OCEAN OUTLOOK

COASTWIDE: Ocean anglers have enjoyed excellent bottomfishing success this week as bluebird days on the ocean translate into limits of lingcod and black rockfish out of ports such as Brookings and Coos Bay. Black, white and red jigs have been most productive. The ocean out of South Coast ports are expected to see 5-knot winds and pretty calm seas today and Saturday, then up a hair but still very manageable Sunday. These are the kinds....

OCEAN OUTLOOK

COASTWIDE: Ocean anglers have been stuck in port thinking about lingcod, and a small-craft advisory that runs through this evening will have them dreaming a while longer. The 15-knot afternoon winds are expected to bring 12-foot swells, so there won't be much interest in crossing the bar until Saturday, when things are forecast to die down to five-knot winds and six-foot swells. Those swells would be good for jigging for lingcod in...

Saturday will see five-knot winds and nine-foot swells, with winds Sunday ramping up to 25 knots and wind waves kicking up to seven.....

OCEAN OUTLOOK

COASTWIDE: Surly seas certainly stymie salt fishers, who have a better chance of spitting their coffee while reading this aloud than getting a chance to ocean fish this weekend. Today's 10-knot winds and troublesome seven-foot mixed swells are the best forecasts for the weekend, with 45-knot gusts and 10-foot swells forecast for Saturday. Not to be outdone, Sunday brings 25-knot winds and 21-foot swells. Stormwatchers need to be very....
