A strong season of predictions culminated with a Pick-It Line championship for Mail Tribune sports reporter Kris Henry.
Mail Tribune staffers, Daily Tidings sports editor Joe Zavala and a guest picker choose winners in 17 high school, college and pro football contests each week during the fall season, with the picks published each Friday. It ends annually with the Civil War game between Oregon and Oregon State.
Henry correctly picked that contest, a Beaver victory, and went 13-4 to finish 147-56 overall. He was a first-place fixture throughout the year.
Sports reporter Frank Silow rallied to take second place overall, going 13-4 on the week and 144-59 on the season.
Placing third was sports reporter Dan Jones, who trailed Henry for first place by one game entering the last week before stumbling to a 10-7 effort. Jones went 143-60.
Sports editor Tim Trower turned in a 13-4 effort to claim fourth (142-61) and Zavala was fifth (10-7 in the final week, 135-68 overall).
Defending champion Warren Blenkush finished tied with the guest picker for last place with 134-69 records despite a strong final push. The sports reporter submitted a week-best 14-3 mark.
