Josephs Illig scored the go-ahead goal with 1 minute, 6 seconds left in the second period as the Vancouver Rangers edged the Southern Oregon Spartans, 1-0, in the Western States Hockey League regular-season finale at The RRRink on Sunday.

The Spartans (33-19) earned a 32-29 shot advantage against the Rangers (18-34).

Southern Oregon won the three-match series, 2-1. The Spartans, who are playoff bound, finished second in the seven-team Northwest Division behind Idaho (43-9).
