BEND — The South Medford seventh grade AAU Blue team won the middle school state championship Saturday.

The Panthers defeated Dayton, 55-50, to claim the Silver Division. They went 4-0 during the weekend.

O'Shea Miller averaged 18 points and eight rebounds for the Panthers, Jake Olsiewski averaged eight points and 12 boards, Eli Haynes 10 points and Junior Sleezer five assists and four steals as the floor leader.

Wrestling

MIDDLE SCHOOL: Cody Havniear of Cascade Christian won the state championship at 102 pounds in middle school wrestling Saturday at Woodburn High School.

Havniear, an eighth-grader in the first-year program, led the title match 13-0 before recording a fall with seconds left. Seeded third, he went 4-0 in the tourney.
