EUGENE — The Oregon baseball team made it five straight Tuesday, beating Portland 6-1 at PK Park to complete an undefeated homestand.
The Ducks (22-8) now head out on the road and resume Pac-12 play at Arizona, a three-game series beginning Thursday at 7 p.m.
Oregon jumped on the Pilots early and often. After Portland scored during a rainy top of the first, the Ducks took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning on a two-run double by Matthew Dyer.
The Ducks tacked on two more in the third when Kyle Kasser scored on a sacrifice fly and Jake Bennett came home on a wild pitch. The lead reached 6-1 in the fourth when Morgan McCullough singled in Taylor Travess, and later scored from third when Kasser got caught in a rundown between first and second.
The RBI double off Cole Stringer in the first ended up being the only hit off the UO left-hander, who went four innings to earn the win.
OSU RAINED OUT: At Corvallis, top-ranked Oregon State's game with Gonzaga Tuesday night was rained out. The Beavers will next play at Washington on Thursday night.
