LAKEVIEW — Not only did Shaylee Ledesma record 26 strikeouts and two wins on Saturday, the Cascade Christian softball team’s ace put the finishing touches on a come-from-behind victory in Game 1.

Ledesma capped a four-run eighth inning with a two-run home run as the Challengers secured a 9-5 win in the opener before completing the Southern Cascade League sweep with an 8-3 triumph over host Lakeview.

After Allison Winter’s RBI single evened the score 5-all during the Challengers’ three-run seventh, which forced the extra frame, Bryton Plankenhorn singled home her sister, Baylee, in the top of the eighth to give Cascade Christian the 6-5 lead. Mia Mayben followed with a run-scoring hit before Ledesma’s homer.

Ledesma struck out 16 in the opener and finished with three hits and four RBIs.

In Game 2, Mayben had a two-run triple during the Challengers’ four-run first inning.

Ledesma fanned 10 and allowed three runs but just one was earned. She added two hits while Winter went 4-for-4 and scored twice.
