EUGENE — Hannah Joseph hadn’t hit a home run this season prior to Crater’s Midwestern League softball game against North Eugene Tuesday.

Now she’s hit two.

The freshman went 2-for-3 with two homers, seven RBIs and three runs as the Comets routed the Highlanders, 24-2, in five innings Tuesday.

Crater improved to 9-10 overall and 8-7 in league. North Eugene is 0-19 and 0-16.

The Comets scored 12 runs in the third inning and banged out 15 hits.

Grace Hilton was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs, and Ally Plankenhorn was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Kaila Lee and Alaina Winningham each had two hits with an RBI and a run, and Mackenzie Ryerson scored three times.

GRANTS PASS 11, SOUTH EUGENE 4: At Eugene, Halleigh Noga and Alyssa Etheridge hit back-to-back solo home runs in the fifth inning for Grants Pass in the Southwest Conference victory. Etheridge also struck out 12 batters in a complete-game effort from the circle.

Brooklyn Hurd led the Cavers (15-8, 9-7 SWC) with three RBIs and Jordan Kuykendall was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

Grace Clark recorded two hits and drove in two runs for South Eugene (4-16, 4-14).

PHOENIX 27, KLAMATH UNION 3, 5 inn.: At Klamath Falls, sophomore Tiona Hurd had quite the day for Phoenix in the Skyline Conference road win at Conger Field.

Hurd tossed a one-hitter with four strikeouts and went 5-for-6 with six RBIs and three runs scored.

Brooke Kentner also had a productive game for Phoenix (4-16, 2-11 Sky), going 3-for-3 with four runs and three RBIs. The Pirates also received two hits each from Makenna Page and Courtney Baker against winless Klamath Union (0-18, 0-13).

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 12-13, BUTTE FALLS 2-4: Shaylee Ledesma recorded 15 strikeouts as Cascade Christian swept Butte Falls in a nonconference doubleheader at U.S. Cellular Community Park. Ledesma only allowed one hit and also added two inside-the-park home runs and six RBIs in Game 1.

In Game 2, the Challengers (15-5) were lead by Bryton Plankenhorn and Mia Mayben, who both went 2-for-3 with two RBIs against Butte Falls (13-5).

Audrey Quast tacked on two hits and three RBIs for Cascade Christian.
