ROSEBURG — Roseburg held off North Medford, 8-7, in the second game of a Southwest Conference baseball doubleheader Thursday, notching a sweep and concluding league play for both teams.

In the opener, the Indians (14-11, 10-8 SWC) surrendered just four hits and locked up a 5-0 win.

The Black Tornado (11-14, 7-11 SWC) is in sixth place. The top four SWC teams make the state playoffs, and other teams could get in based on OSAA rankings when they freeze Saturday.

In Game 2 Thursday, a leadoff triple by Justin Geyer began a six-hit first inning for the Black Tornado, which generated four runs. But the Indians matched that in the bottom of the frame.

For North Medford, Geyer finished 2-for-4, Ryan Sandoval was 2-for-3 with two runs and a pair of RBIs, and Kasey Buchanan went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
