MARYSVILLE, Calif. — The Medford Rogues snapped a four-game losing streak and climbed back to .500 with a 7-1 Great West League baseball win over Yuba City Tuesday at Colusa Casino Stadium.

The Rogues, who got strong pitching from Jordan Ragan and a home run from Josh Berman, improved to 4-4. Yuba City is 2-5.

Ragan (2-0), a left-hander, went 8⅓ innings, scattering five hits, striking out six and walking six. The run he allowed was unearned.

Berman hit a solo home run over the left-field wall with two outs in the third inning, the first of the year for the Rogues.

Clay Valenzuela-Reece was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run for Medford, and Dante Gutierrez was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jake Hellweg was 2-for-4 and scored twice.

Phoenix’s Aaron Hutchinson came in for the final two outs, striking out both hitters he faced.

Yuba City committed seven errors, allowing three unearned runs for the Rogues.

The Rogues and Bears meet again tonight in the third game of the four-game series.

Medford will then head south to take on the Lincoln Potters in a three-game series before returning home.

MEDFORD 18, KLAMATH FALLS 8: The Medford Mustangs wasted little time in jumping on Klamath Falls at Harry & David Field, scoring 10 first-inning runs in the nonleague victory.

The game was shortened to seven innings from the scheduled nine. The two teams meet again Thursday in Klamath Falls in another nonleague contest.

Medford’s Jake Melton led the charge in the first inning, slugging a two-run home run.

Kellar Edwards added a two-run double to the barrage as the Mustangs improved to 2-1. It was the first game for the Falcons.

Melton was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and four runs, and Edwards was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs. Nick Sanderson was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs, and James Turnbull went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs.

NORTH MEDFORD 2, NORTH JACKSON 1: At Eagle Point, North Medford’s Josh Robbins hit a 2-2 fastball up the middle to drive in the winning run for the Mavericks in the top of the eighth inning of the season opener.

Ryan Sandoval limited North Jackson to two hits through seven innings, striking out five and walking three.

Quinton Rumrey led off the eighth with a walk for the Mavericks, and Brandon King followed in kind. After a strikeout, Rumrey was caught stealing third for the second out. Another walk to Sandoval set up Robbins’ single that scored King.

The Royals got a runner to first in their half of the eighth but couldn’t advance him.
