Lincoln scored all nine of its runs in the first four innings and held off the Medford Rogues from there to secure a Great West League baseball victory Friday night at McBean Memorial Park in Lincoln, California.
The league-leading Potters (9-2) came out blazing against Ashland High graduate Peyton Fuller, scoring eight earned runs on nine hits in three innings. Fuller finished with two strikeouts and two walks in his second appearance for the Rogues (6-5).
Medford’s Connor Lowrie supplied a two-run home run in the second inning and finished 1-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs.
In the fourth, Davis Delorefice had an RBI triple for the Rogues to plate Alex Isola to make the score 8-3. Delorefice, a Utah product, finished 3-for-4 and a home run shy of the cycle with two RBIs, while Lincoln native Isola was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Ryan Carle helped keep the Rogues in contention with a solid relief pitching effort, tossing four scoreless innings with three hits allowed against four strikeouts and two walks.
Lowrie had a sacrifice fly in the ninth as the Rogues rallied to within 9-6 but Josh Berman’s deep flyball out to center field clinched the game for the Potters, who host the Rogues again at 7:35 tonight.
