GRANTS PASS — Jockey Kassie Guglielmino won three straight races during action at Grants Pass Downs on Saturday.

Guglielmino picked up victories in the third, fourth and fifth races.

Jockey Jose Guerrero earned two wins, prevailing in the first and sixth races.

Trainer Scott Stewart captured a pair of victories, taking the third and seventh races. In the seventh, jockey Kitti Schaub sealed her first career win at GPD in the Don Jackson Memorial.

Racing wraps today with Fan Appreciation Day, with drawings for prizes set for after every one of the nine races scheduled.

Gates open at 11:30 a.m. with post time at 1 p.m. Racing will include the Grants Pass Derby with an $11,050 purse and the inaugural Grants Pass Mile, with a $10,000 purse.

MEDFORD MUSTANGS 5-1, GRANTS PASS NUGGETS 4-4: Medford split the Area 4 doubleheader at North Medford High.

Ryan Lorenz hit the game-winning RBI single that scored Berry Hunt in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game 1 for the Mustangs.

Cole Carder went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Kasey Buchanan, Hunt and Lorenz all finished 2-for-4.

In the second game, James Turnbull was 2-for-3 and Tate Cowden 2-for-4 for Medford (22-7-1, 9-3 Area 4).

In Game 1, Brady Buchanan was 3-for-4 with two runs, Josh Robbins 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Jono Gassman 2-for-4 with two runs and Trevor Corallo 2-for-4 for the Mavericks.

In the second contest, Buchanan finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Ryan Sandoval 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs and Owen Grafton 2-for-4 for North Medford (21-4, 14-2 Area 4).

Women’s Football

ARKANSAS WILDCATS 38, SOUTHERN OREGON LADY RENEGADES 21: At Eagle Point, the Arkansas Wildcats won the Women’s Football Alliance Division 3 American Conference championship game at Eagle Point High.

The contest was called by officials with about 13 minutes left in the fourth quarter because the lights at Eagle Stadium could not be turned on as darkness approached.

Arkansas (8-2) will face Orlando, Florida, for the Division 3 title July 21 in Pittsburgh.

Amanda Brewster’s 2-yard rushing touchdown cut Southern Oregon’s deficit to nine with 4 minutes, 2 seconds left in the third, and Naomi Mautz’s end-zone interception gave the Renegades additional hope heading into the fourth.

Southern Oregon finished 3-7.
