Former Cascade Christian football standout Carson Cochran had a stellar outing in the 65th annual East-West Shrine All-Star Game Saturday in Baker City.
Cochran, a 6-foot-4 receiver, scored the winning touchdown as the East defeated the West, 29-23, in a back-and-forth affair at Bulldog Memorial Stadium.
Cochran, a first-team all-state selection for the Challengers last fall, wrestled the ball from a defender in the end zone on a 28-yard scoring pass from Jefferson’s Tel Jones. The play came with 2:02 remaining.
Cochran caught the ensuing two-point conversion from Jones, and the two hooked up on a 60-yard play moments earlier.
Cochran led the East with five catches for 133 yards. He also played linebacker on defense and forced a fumble.
The East scored all its points in the second half, when there were five lead changes.
