Ashland will move its nonconference football game against Summit to Lakeview High School tonight. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Here's a notice from Grizzly athletic director Karl Kemper:
We are currently in the yellow (moderate) for the 24-hour reading and green (good) for the 1-hour reading so we could play a game in Ashland right now. That being said, the forecast is for warmer temperatures and more smoke in the region later in the day. The worst case scenario would be for us to have Summit travel here from Bend and arrive in Ashland with the predicted deteriorated air quality moving us into the orange (unhealthy for sensitive populations—not OK to play a game by OSAA guidelines). Then, we would have to cancel the game and there would be no way to make it up. With Lakeview being consistently in the green for the past week, it is a sure thing that we will get the game in if we travel there. We realize we may be wrong and it might be fine for us to play a game in Ashland at 7:00 tonight but have decided to play the odds so will travel to Lakeview High School for a 7:00 game this evening.
