BREMERTON, Wash. — For the second straight night, the Southern Oregon Spartans found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-3 score in Western States Hockey League action Saturday against the host West Sound Warriors.

Christian Ward scored a goal off an assist by Peter Toth with four minutes to play for the Spartans but they couldn’t net an equalizer in falling to 1-4 overall. Ward and Toth each finished with one goal and one assist.

Miroslav Smid scored the other goal for Southern Oregon, and Noah Kozack had an assist. Goalkeeper Austin Toussaint made 21 saves for the Spartans, but Warriors goalie Brian Eisele was equal to the task with 34 saves.

West Sound (3-1) and Southern Oregon will wrap up their three-game series at 3 p.m. today.
