CORVALLIS — Trevor Larnach hit a sixth-inning grand slam and Grant Gambrell tossed seven scoreless innings as the Oregon State baseball team swept Hartford via a 5-0 win Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium.

Larnach's sixth-inning round tripper marked his fifth home run of the season and sent the Beavers to their 12th consecutive victory to open the season. Oregon State has been 12-0 five times in program history, and the start is the best since the 2013 team won its first 15 games.

Gambrell was sharp in his third start of the season, holding the Hawks (1-7) to four hits and a walk in seven innings. He struck out six and tossed 103 pitches — 67 strikes — to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Hartford starter Nathan Florence held the Beavers in check through the first five innings. Oregon State managed a solo run in the fourth on a passed ball, but the Beavers loaded the bases with consecutive singles by Steven Kwan, Cadyn Grenier and Adley Rutschman with one out in the sixth.

Hartford went t reliever Drew Farkas, and his 1-1 pitch to Larnach was sent over the wall in left for the grand slam.

Florence ended the afternoon allowing four runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks. He dropped to 0-2 on the year.

Kwan led the offensive attack with two of the team's six hits.

Oregon State continues its homestand Tuesday by hosting Portland.

OREGON 4, FLORIDA ATLANTIC 0: At Eugene, Oregon scored two runs in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh during nonleague action.

Winning pitcher James Acuna allowed four hits and no walks with three strikeouts in six innings to improve to 1-0.

Spencer Steer had two RBIs and Gabe Mathews was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Ducks (7-3).

Oregon will look to win the four-game series today.
