Don and Donna Whyte of Medford celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 2 with a dinner at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, David and Irene Cook of Medford.
Hosts of the event, with 20 guests attending, were their daughter, Sheryl Rupp and their daughter-in-law, Irene Cook.
Don Whyte married Donna Stubbs on Nov. 1, 1958. They met in Redwood City, Calif., where they both worked for the old Pacific Bell Telephone Co.
They moved to Ashland in 1962, with their four children. Don went to work for the Ashland Fire Department and later became Deputy State Fire Marshall. He retired in 1986.
Donna worked as a receptionist at two locations, including Dr. Jackson's dental office.
Don and Donna live in Glenwood Mobile Estates in Medford and are active members of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland.
Since their retirement, they have enjoyed traveling to see family and friends.
The Whytes have five children, David (Irene) Cook of Medford, Ken (Dedra) Whyte of Silverdale, Wash., Greg (Rene) Whyte of Talent, Mark Whyte of Portland and Sheryl (Tim) Rupp of Medford. They also have 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
