Marvin and Dorothy Throne of Central Point celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to the Oregon Coast.
Their daughter, Linda Manning, traveled from Beatty, Nev., to drive them up the coast as an anniversary gift from their children. Their other children are Paul Throne of Spokane, Wash., and Lee Throne of Molalla.
Marvin Throne married Dorothy Warren on June 18, 1960, in Selma.
Marvin was born in La Verne, Calif., and moved to Gold Hill in 1936. Dorothy was born in Grants Pass and lived in Selma. They both worked at the Oregon Caves and later began dating while they were both students at what was then Southern Oregon College. Both became teachers and worked in various schools in Southern Oregon. Eventually, they both worked for Central Point School District 6. Marvin taught band, and Dorothy taught mainly third grade.
They have lived in Central Point since 1963. Marvin was active in the American Legion until recently, and served as a docent at the museum at the White City Domiciliary.
Dorothy continues to volunteer with Friends of the Central Point Library, Southern Oregon Genealogical Society, Oregon Retired Teachers Association and the Southern Oregon Antiques and Collectibles Club.
In addition to their children, they have two grandchildren.
