Dr. J. Loyd and Judy Wood celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 21 with an open house and dinner with family and friends at their son's beach house in Brookings,
Hosts of the event were their children, Jeffery (Paula) and Brian (Judy) of Medford; and Jonathan (Verona) of Gold Hill.
J. Loyd married Judy Sabo on Aug. 21, 1960, in Medford.
J. attended school at Oregon Technical Institute and Southern Oregon State College (now SOU) graduating in 1964. Moving to Loma Linda, Calif., he then attended Loma Linda School of Dentistry and graduated in 1968. The family then moved to Medford, where he then took over the practice of his father-in-law, Dr. Comell Sabo.
Several years after moving to Medford, the Woods purchased a small farm where J. enjoyed raising registered black Angus cattle, which he did for 30 years.
Since retirement, he now raises steers and hay.
Since Judy quit school when they were married, she went back to school when her youngest son was in high school and earned an LPN license and did private duty nursing, along with helping out at her husband's office and on the farm.
Now part of the winter months are spent at their home in Yuma, Ariz., enjoying friends and warm sunny weather.
They have three sons and eight grandchildren.
