Dave and Gladys Fortmiller of Talent celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 24, 2010, with an open house at Fortmiller Vineyard in Talent.
The event, with 60 guests attending, was hosted by the Fortmillers and their family. Guests came from as far away as San Diego, the North Shore of Oahu, Great Britain and Greece.
Dave Fortmiller married Gladys Aronson on Jan. 20, 1951, in San Francisco.
They met while working at the Emporium in San Francisco. They moved to Ashland in 1952 and owned and operated Fortmiller's Quality Clothing, which opened in the 1930s, until the store closed in 1995.
The Fortmillers moved to Talent in 1972, where they converted a historic ranch to a productive vineyard.
While serving their community through various business and social organizations, Dave and Gladys also managed to travel extensively, with trips through the Panama Canal, Fiji, Greece, Sweden and the former Soviet Union.
The Fortmillers have three children, Lisa (husband-Ned, deceased) of Ashland; Dean (wife-Lori) of Talent; and Dan (wife-Kate) of Portland. They also have eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
