50th Anniversary: Stephen T. and Tina M. Holmes
Stephen T. and Tina M. (Boe) Holmes will celebrate their 50th anniversary Sunday, June 15, with an Oregon Coast camping trip in mid-June, celebrating their 1969 honeymoon route.
Tina moved to Medford in 1957 when her family was transferred from Sangley Point Naval Air Station, Philippines. Her father was assigned as the Navy recruiter. She graduated from Medford High School in 1967, attended Southern Oregon College, University of Oregon’s School of Nursing and graduated from Riverside City College Nursing Program.
Stephen moved to Central Point in 1959 when his family relocated from Sargent, Nebraska. He graduated from Crater High School in 1967, and attended SOC, where he met Tina. He also attended Portland State University, graduated from Cal State-San Bernardino and Golden Gate University.
Steve and Tina were married June 15, 1969. Stephen enlisted in the Air Force in 1971.
The couple have two children, Katheryn, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Ted, of Firestone, Colorado, and three grandsons, Gunnar and Archer Holmes, and Dominic Hernandez.
The young family was transferred many times while in the Air Force, living across the U.S. and overseas, but they always considered Oregon home.
Tina worked as a nurse during every Air Force assignment both in the U.S. and overseas. Tina retired from Rogue Regional Medical Center’s cardiac unit, completing a 43-year nursing career.
Stephen retired as a captain in 1991, and they moved home to Oregon, where Stephen continued working until he retired in 2012.
Now both retired, Tina enjoys her garden and art projects; Stephen enjoys fly fishing and woodworking. They are active members of the Oregon Airstream Club.
