70th Anniversary: Jim and Betty Morgan
Jim and Betty Morgan celebrated their 70th anniversary Tuesday, Jan. 26.
Jim and Betty were high school sweethearts. They started dating when they were sophomores.
Their marriage took place in Lewistown, Montana, Jan. 26, 1951.
Jim started his career at the local U.S. Gypsum plant. The company is known for the brand name Sheetrock.
Betty worked as a stenographer for a group of lawyers.
Their “togetherness” was interrupted by service in the Navy during the Korean War. Jim’s career with USG lasted 40 years, with transfers to California, Georgia and several returns to Chicago.
After five years of searching for their ideal place for retirement, they decided on Medford. That was over 24 years ago and they have not regretted their decision.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the sweethearts celebrated their anniversary just like their honeymoon — just the two of them.
