Spokane's giant inning sinks T'jacks
The Spokane Indians provided some early fireworks Thursday at Miles Fieldthat carried the visiting team to a 9-4 victory over the Southern OregonTimberjacks.
The Indians broke open a 4-4 tie game with three runs in the sixth inning.
Walks to Joe Caruso and Rod Metzler by Timberjacks pitcher Luis Vizcainogot the rally started. Relief pitcher Rico Lagattuta then gave up a three-runhomer to Dermel Brown, who leads the Northwest League with seven homers.
The Timberjacks grabbed the early lead when leadoff hitter Rodney Cliftonsmashed a solo home run in the first.
Southern Oregon added a run in the second when Nicolas Sosa reached baseon an error and designated hitter Jose Figueroa slammed an RBI double.
After Spokane surged in front 4-2, Southern Oregon answered with tworuns in the fifth to tie the score.
The Timberjacks scored on Clifton's sacrifice fly and Mike Koerner'sRBI single.
