Timberjacks explode for 15 runs, rout Emeralds
The Southern Oregon Timberjacks scored early and often to cruise to a15-6 Northwest League victory over the Eugene Emeralds Saturday night atMiles Field.
The victory keeps the Timberjacks one game behind Portland in the SouthDivision. The Rockies beat Everett 5-1.
After an Adam Robinson RBI triple in the first inning, the Timberjacksexploded for five runs in the second inning off Emeralds' starter Mike Roberts.
Southern Oregon sent 11 hitters to the plate, highlighted by a two-runtriple by Robinson.
The third inning meant five more runs on just two more hits for the Timberjacksoff Eugene relievers Jacob Shumate and Jamie Wise.
Eugene finally got to Southern Oregon starter Andy Kimball (2-1) forthree runs in the fourth inning.
With two outs, Manny Sanchez had an RBI single and Stewart Smothers laceda two-run double.
Kimball finished the night with seven strikeouts in five innings of work.
Clifton's RBI double in the fifth highlighted a three-run inning forthe Timberjacks.
