Olson, Clark fire 2-under rounds at tournament
A pair of familiar names fired the low rounds Tuesday at local men'squalifying for the Southern Oregon Golf Championships at Rogue Valley CountryClub.
Doug Olson, a two-time Southern Oregon winner, and Glen Clark, the 1996Rogue Valley Stroke Play Champion, both shot 2-under-par 70 in the regularmen's division.
Kevin Klabunde, last year's Southern Oregon junior-senior winner, shot71, while former winner Brad Bills and Mark DeBoer both carded 72s. JayKlemp had a 73.
Qualifying for out-of-town men and for all women is today at the course,with match play to begin Thursday and run through Monday.
Bob Cox's 73 was the low score among the junior-senior men. Rick Brockieshot 75, while Terry Anderson and Doug Engle both had 76s. John Johnson,Dick Brekke and Dan Dixon fired 77s.
In the senior men, Bob Harrell had three three-putts but still fireda 2-under 70 to lead the way. Rob Holzkamp and Dave Town both shot 75s,while Dick Swanson and Hal McMaster had 76s.
The top 64 men in the regular division from both days of qualifying advance to the championship flight. The top 32 in both the junior-seniorand senior divisions make the championship flight.
The top 16 women from today's qualifying make the championship flight.
