Raiders continue hot volleyball start

ARCATA, Calif. -- The Southern Oregon University volleyball team keptits winning streak alive in the first day of the Humboldt State Invitationalon Friday.

The Raiders improved on their best start since 1993 with a pair of victoriesin the six-team round robin tournament. SOU defeated St. Martin's Collegeof Lacy, Wash., 15-6, 15-6 and 15-11, then dispatched Seattle Pacific 15-6,15-2 and 15-4.

Southern Oregon ran its streak to 6-0 on the season. More impressively,the Raiders have won 18 games without a loss in their six matches.

We're very consistent, Southern Oregon coach Paul Elliottsaid. Our offense is definitely clicking on all cylinders.

In the opener, Sherry Short posted a team-high 19 kills, while Misti-KaeFilly contributed nine.
