Purcell sparks North win

ASHLAND -- North Medford goalie Cameron Purcell is on a roll.

Tueday at Ashland Middle School, Purcell recorded his second straightshutout as fourth-ranked North Medford shut out Ashland 3-0 in SouthernOregon Conference action.

The Black Tornado showed it meant business right away.

With the match just 30 seconds old, the Black Tornado's Jacob Wallinscored off an assist from Jeremy Johnston.

Five minutes later, Wallin reached the back of the net again, scoringoff a cross from Geoff Hunker.

With 12:55 to play in the first half, Johnston tallied North's thirdgoal of the period and it was smooth sailing from their.

The win keeps the Black Tornado perfect atop the SOC standings with a2-0 mark.

SOUTH MEDFORD 2, ROSEBURG 0 -- Bryn Ritchie helped wake his team's lethargicplay by scoring two goals in the last 16 minutes to lead the second-rankedPanthers past Roseburg at District Field.

We pretty much dominated the game, South Medford coach WallyHicks said. We couldn't get the penetration we needed, and we probablydidn't take the shots we should have taken.

The high-scoring Ritchie scored his first goal at 66 minutes, 4 secondsof the second half off an assist from Tyler Hoffbuhr. Ritchie scored againat 75:50 off an assist from goalie Chad Warren.

Warren kicked the ball upfield, and when nobody made a play on it, Ritchietook it the rest of the way.

South outshot the Indians 19-4.

The shutout was Warren's fourth of the season and was helped considerablyby the play of defenders Danny Lupes, Matt Hogge and Jesse Rowden.

CRATER 5, MAZAMA — -- At Klamath Falls, Tyler Sesock and Rocky Robesoneach scored two goals to lead Crater.

The Comets led 3-0 at halftime on goals by Sesock, Robeson and Pete Kashevarof.

Mazama closed to 3-1 before Sesock and Robeson scored again.

GRANTS PASS 5, EAGLE POINT 2 -- At Grants Pass, Giovanny Turnbull scoredtwo goals and had one assist to lead the Cavemen to their first SOC win.

Joey Lute added a goal and an assist.

Other Grants Pass goals came from Francisco Miranda and Dan Flores. P.R.Buractaon and Ryan Bray scored for Eagle Point.
