OSU center Marshall lost to bone break

CORVALLIS -- Oregon State senior center Todd Marshall has been sidelinedfor four to six weeks after his right hand was broken in practice on Monday,coach Eddie Payne announced Tuesday.

Marshall, who starred at St. Mary's High School in Medford, averaged5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in nine starts last season.

The 6-foot-10, 250-pounder was expected to start in Thursday's regular-seasonopener against Cal State-Northridge.

Marshall attended St. Mary's College for two years before transferringto Oregon State.

Marshall recorded two double-doubles last year when he had 14 pointsand 11 rebounds against Bradley and 10 points and 12 rebounds against ArizonaState.

He also had six blocked shots against Bradley, matching the school record.

Payne has not announced a replacement, but the likely candidates aresenior Sonny Benjamin, sophomore Iyan Walker, redshirt freshman Nick Greeneand true freshman Jason Heide.
