We just got the ball inside to Denise Berry a couple of times, said Southern Oregon coach Shirley Huyett. We were just going to hitthe open person and run our offense. She got open a couple of times insidetheir defense and she made a couple of nice shots.
Southern Oregon's outside shooting -- 5 of 9 from 3-point territory --and a strong defensive effort helped the Raiders to a 36-27 lead at theend of the first half.
Our defense kept them off balance and didn't allow them to getcomfortable shooting the ball, said Huyett.
But the Mavericks turned the tables on the Raiders in the second half. After Berry's field goal tied the game with 35 seconds left, the Mavericksmissed three shots inside the last 12 seconds for a chance to win.
They found some openings and got quite a few offensive reboundsin the second half, said Huyett.
