Pippa, Morgan lead Grizz

KLAMATH FALLS -- Sophomores Jenny Pippa scored 17 points and Chelsea Morgan added 16 as Ashland romped over Mazama 70-30 in Southern Oregon Conference girls basketball Tuesday.

Ashland's press forced 19 turnovers and the Grizzlies capitalized on a big rebounding advantage.

Man, were they on the backboards, Mazama coach Kelly Reynolds said. Everything that went up was theirs.

Pippa, a 5-foot-4 point guard, impressed the first-year Mazama coach.

Pippa led a really good attack, Reynolds said. She was quick off the dribble and made good decisions. Also, she pulled up and shot the ball when she was open.

The Grizzlies completely took control of the game in the second and third quarters when they outscored Mazama 42-13.

Ashland (10-8, 8-6 SOC) moved into a fourth-place tie in the SOC with Klamath Union, while Mazama fell to 1-14 in league play.
