Milojevich powers Cascade Christian to BFL win

Cascade Christian boys basketball coach Brian Morse challenged Tim Milojevich prior to Saturday's Big Fir League game against Riddle.

And the burly, junior center responded.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Milojevich scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Cascade Christian clinched third place in the Big Fir with a 100-86 victory over Riddle at Grace Christian School.

We've been waiting all season for him to convert on his inside game, Morse said. He took the challenge and focused more tonight. We kept getting him the ball and good things happened.

The Challengers (13-12, 8-6 Big Fir) will open the Big Fir Tournament at South Medford High on Thursday against St. Mary's at 6 p.m.

The Crusaders shot 72 percent from the floor on 37 of 51 shooting to break a school record.

Don Jenkins contributed 22 points for the Challengers, while Joe Moxley tossed in 13 points and handed out 10 assists.

Cascade Christian, which starts three juniors and two sophomores, turned around its season since posting a 3-4 record the first go round through the league. The Challengers went 5-2 in the second half.

The main thing was game experience in competitive situations, Morse said. Our early games were real close but we made critical mistakes and we were a little scared not knowing what to expect.
