Eagles blast Grants Pass, 15-9

EAGLE POINT -- A seven-run second inning helped the Eagle Point baseball team to a 15-9 non-league victory over Southern Oregon Conference rival Grants Pass Thursday at the Yard.

The Cavemen jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after — 1/2 innings off Eagles' starter Dan Shopp, but in the bottom half of the inning the Eagle Point bats came to life.

Mike Newmann pounded a three-run triple and Luke Scott added a two-run home run to highlight to outburst.

Scott's homer was Eagle Point's fourth round-tripper in two games. The Eagles belted three in a victory over Henley on Wednesday.

Eagle Point catcher Mike Holte added two hits, including a double and two RBIs, while Newmann had a pair of hits as the Eagles improved to 2-0.

Trent Thompson led Grants Pass with three hits, while Jason Anderson and Cory Restvedt added two hits.
