Knights take vital match from Chiefs

MERLIN -- North Valley took a big step towards securing a playoff berth while dealing Rogue River a crippling blow as the Knights hammered out a 15-13, 11-15, 15-10 Skyline Conference victory over the Chieftains on Thursday.

Krista Worthington led the Chieftains with nine kills and 14 digs and was 11-for-11 serving with four aces.

The loss dropped Rogue River (5-5) into a fourth-place tie with Phoenix, while North Valley (6-4) remained in third place in the Skyline Conference standings.

HENLEY 15-15, PHOENIX 1-10, -- At Klamath Falls, senior hitter Jessie Horsely had eight kills and sophomore hitter Breanne Maupin added 15 assists in the Hornets' victory.

Freshman setter Erica Clements added eight assist.

LAKEVIEW 15-15, ILLINOIS VALLEY 5-8, -- At Cave Junction, sophomore Kristi Albertson was a perfect 19-for-19 at the service line and senior hitter Erika Coon had nine kills.

MAZAMA 15-15, HIDDEN VALLEY 5-5, -- At Klamath Falls, Jenice Brasser had seven service points and Shay Eubanks added eight assists to lead the Vikings over the Mustangs.

BUTTE FALLS 3-15-16, CASCADE CHRISTIAN 15-6-14, -- At Butte Falls, Jessie Bergren brought Butte Falls back from a 14-12 deficit in the third game by serving the final four points of the match.

Sophomore Jammie McClanahan led Butte Falls with 12 assists. Outside hitter Sara Thompson had 13 kills and Jade Torres five digs in the non-conference encounter.
