, Lee reach SO All-Stars bowling finals

Two of Medford's top bowlers -- Chuck Eilenberger and Jerome Lee -- landed in the championship finals of the Southern Oregon All-Stars second monthly tournament of the season Sunday at Hanscam's Bowling Lanes in Klamath Falls.

But it was Eilenberger, 51, who came away with his fourth S.O. All-Stars career title with a 258-235 victory over Lee, who entered the stepladder finals as the top qualifier.

Eilenberger, a former S.O. All-Stars Tournament of Champions winner, defeated Bart Worrell 258-215 to move into the championship match. Worrell of Klamath Falls advanced into the semifinals with a 213-188 victory over David Warrick, who opened the stepladder finals with a 257-191 win against Jason Taylor.

The next event in the eight-tournament series takes place at Medford Lanes Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

get rung up twice by Chiefs at RRRink

The visiting Portland Chiefs defeated the Rogue Valley RRRangers 12-7 and 10-7 in a pair of senior league ice hockey games at the RRRink in Medford.

Tommy Maulding and Carl Jacobs scored two goals apiece for the RRRangers. Bill Ellis and Will Gwynn had hat tricks for the Chiefs.

tickets for Crater-Roseburg on sale

CENTRAL POINT -- Reserved tickets for Friday's Crater-Roseburg football game go on sale this morning in the school activities office, Rm. 39.

General admission seating goes on sale at the gate, 6 p.m. Friday.

Babe Ruth board meets Thursday

ASHLAND -- The Ashland Babe Ruth League board of directors meets 7 p.m. Thursday at Hunter Park.

Discussion will center on the 1999 season. Parents are urged to attend. For information call 552-0611.

Ashland tryouts scheduled for Saturday

ASHLAND -- Tryouts for an Ashland sixth-grade AAU boys basketball team are slated Saturday at Briscoe Elementary School gym 9:30-11 a.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m.

These are the final tryouts. The team will play approximately 20 games between January and March.

American LL board gathers Nov. 4

An organizational meeting for Medford American Little League baseball will be held 6 p.m. Nov. 4 at the North Medford High cafeteria.

A board of directors will be named and other organizational matters will be discussed. Anyone interested in helping out the league is encouraged to attend.
