headlines fight card tonight

Manuel Gonzalez of the Rogue Valley Cougars Boxing Club will be one of 12 Cougars to fight on a Saturday night card at Eagle Point High.

Action starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Eagle Point gym.

Gonzalez is the 1998 Silver Gloves state champion in the age 10-and-under division. He's also a defending Oregon Junior Olympics champion and has an 18-match winning streak.

Ten other Cougars, who have won state titles in Oregon and Nevada, will fight on Saturday. They are Homero Gonzalez, Manuel Ibarra, Cris Almaraz, Juan Almaraz, Junior Rios, Dennis Clifford, Omar Ibarra, Danny Ibarra, Alex Ibarra and Pancho Esqueda.

soccer club slates annual meeting

Rogue Valley Soccer Club will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 12 in the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School cafeteria to elect officers and board members. The school is at 3101 McLoughlin Drive, off Delta Waters Road in northeast Medford.

Anyone involved with the club or interested in soccer is invited to attend and eligible to vote.

The Rogue Valley Soccer Club provides youth soccer teams in recreation and competitive leagues for players ages 6 to 18.

Hall of Fame seeks nominations

Nominations are being accepted for induction into the Medford Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

Living and deceased bowlers who made outstanding contributions in the sport are eligible for induction.

Nominations are due by Jan. — and forms can be picked up and turned in at Medford Lanes and Roxy Ann Lanes. For more information, call Treasa Sprague at 664-1861.

wins bowling tourney by 28 pins

Sam Blackwell rolled a 680 series and came back with a 561 to win the 600 Invitational Singles Bowling Tournament at Roxy Ann Lanes last Sunday.

With 150 handicap pins added in, Blackwell finished with a 1,391 total to win by 28 pins.

Blackwell had games of 246, 224 and 210 during her 680 series.

Rounding out the top 10 were Alicia Thies, 1,363; Rusty Regidor, 1,311; Dennie Buchanan, 1,279; Ila Bethany, 1,274; Donna King, 1,265; Kelly Lambert, 1,260; Kathy Bethany, 1,259; Josie Keaton, 1,256; and Margo Jackson, 1,252.
