Raider senior garners acclaim

ASHLAND -- Southern Oregon University's women's basketball program received its third Cascade Conference player of the week honor in four weeks as senior post Denise Berry of Prineville received her first career conference honor.

Berry amassed 42 points, 21 rebounds and a pair of double-doubles while leading the second-ranked Raiders to their fifth consecutive Stratford Inn Invitational championship over the weekend.

The 6-foot former Crook County High star earned all-tournament billing after recording game highs of 24 points and 12 boards in SOU's 111-57 thumping of Patten College in the first round of the tournament.

She added 18 points and 11 rebounds in the title win over Dominican College, 92-39.

Berry, who has five double-doubles in 11 outings this season, leads the conference in free throw percentage (.863), ranks second for scoring (17.8) and is fourth for rebounding (8.6) and field goal percentage (.552).
