Bulldogs win two title bouts

LYNNWOOD, Wash. -- Medford's Bulldog Boxing Club won two championships Saturday at the Pacific Northwest Region Junior Olympic Championships.

Boone Wyatt and Alex Trujillo captured titles, while Imanuel Luviano was defeated in 13-14-year-old bouts during the four-state competition.

Wyatt, who's ranked No. 2 in the nation at 100 pounds, stopped Tim Wadsworth of Idaho in the second round of a 112-pound match. Wyatt improved his record to 32-3.

Trujillo defeated Rafael Martinez of Idaho in a 125-pound match.

The 13-14-year-old division does not advance any further.

The Bulldogs also won three match bouts that were not part of the official championships. The victorious boxers were Javier Torrez (10-11, 100 pounds), Moises Rodriguez (9-10, 70 pounds) and Clancy Finchum (14-15, 119 pounds).

Ricky Gallegos (132) and Mike Wilson (super heavyweight) will attempt to advance to the national championships with bouts today in the 15-16-year-old divisions.

Wilson was a runner-up in last year's national championships.

The White City Cougars Boxing Club has two 15-16-year-old boxers -- Steve Vosberg (125) and Homero Gonzalez (147) -- trying to reach nationals today.

The National Junior Olympic Championships take place in Marquette, Mich., June 20-28.
