Mustang Legion tryouts slated for Monday
The Medford Mustangs American Legion baseball tryouts are at 4 p.m. Monday at North Medford High School.
Tryouts are open to players from North and South Medford high schools, Crater, Cascade Christian and St. Mary's.
Anyone born before Aug. 1, 1980, is not eligible.
The time and place for another tryout to accommodate players still in the high playoffs will be announced later.
Summer basketball to begin next month
Manny's Basketball Association will begin its summer basketball league on June 20.
The entry fee is $250 for the men's league and $175 for the fifth- to ninth-grade boys and girls leagues.
Entry deadline is June 14.

Jonasson an academic all-district selection
ASHLAND -- Southern Oregon University tennis standout Judy Jonasson has been named to the GTE academic all-district team.
The junior environmental studies major, a graduate of North Medford High, maintains a 3.9 grade-point average. She led SOU to an 11-2-1 dual meet record this spring.
Jonasson, who amassed a team-high 30 victories and was the Raiders' MVP, is one of 11 regional award winners who will represent Oregon, California, Washington and Idaho on the GTE academic All-American ballot.
Menne, Nutter hover at top of point standings
Dan Menne of Fort Jones, Calif., and Central Point's Bill Nutter are near the top of the standings on the Northern Sprint Tour.
Menne stands second to Shawna Wilskey of Lake Stevens, Wash., with 330 points and Nutter has 311. Wilskey, the defending champion, leads the way with 396 points.
