Superior swimmers place second in Reno
RENO, Nev. -- Superior Aquatics took second place out of 22 teams in the Reno Gamble Invitational Swim Meet over the weekend.
Teams from Alaska, Washington, California and Nevada also participated. There were 351 swimmers competing.
Jacye Calhoon, Justine Calhoon, Susie Eastman, Ashley Johnson, Brittany Miller, Tolga Tokman and Dairian Walls all registered at least one victory for Superior.
In the 8-and-under division, Jayce Calhoon was runner-up in the boys high-points race; in the same age division for girls, Miller was second and Justine Calhoon third.
Hillary Burrelle finished second in the girls 10-and-under division, while Johnson was third in the girls 15-and-over division.
Rogue Valley Storm wins premier tourney
BEAVERTON -- The Rogue Valley Storm won its second soccer tournament in a month by beating Grand Junction, Colo., 4-1 in the championship game at the Beaverton THUSC premier tournament.
The Storm, a 14-and-under girls team, represents the Rogue Valley Soccer Club. It went 5-0, also beating Fairbanks, Alaska; Vancouver, Wash.; Central Okanagan, British Columbia; and Portland.
Table Rock soccer sign-ups being taken
The Table Rock Soccer Club is accepting registrations for the fall season through June 30. The fall season runs from Sept. 11 through Nov. 6 with all games on Saturday.
Students in the first through eighth grades are eligible to participate. Registration fees are $30 for the fall season or $50 for both the fall and spring seasons.
Registration forms are available at schools in the Eagle Point and Central Point districts, the Rogue Valley Soccer Shop, Cascade Athletic and branches of the Jackson County Library.

Applegate Valley Run scheduled for July 31
The third annual Applegate Valley 5K and 10K walk/run is July 31 at Cantrall-Buckley Park.
The 5K race will begin at 8 a.m., and the 10K at 8:30 a.m.
The preregistration cost is $10, and entry forms are available at Ruch businesses and Medford sports stores.
Runners also may register before the race from 6 a.m to 7 a.m. for $15.

Middaugh records ace at Quail Point GC
Richard Middaugh recorded his first hole in one Friday at Quail Point Golf Course.
Middaugh, who has played golf for more than 30 years, used a 5-wood on the par-3, 159-yard ninth hole.
