leads Superior swimmers with 10 firsts

Jayce Calhoon of Superior Aquatics won 10 events and the overall title in the boys 8-and-under division of the Roseburg Invitational swim meet Sunday.

Calhoon won age-group titles in the 100-meter individual medley, 100 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 25 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, 25 backstroke, 25 freestyle, 25 breaststroke, 25 backstroke and 25 butterfly.

Jamie Buckley of Superior was first in the girls overall 8-and-under division.

Ashley Johnson, 16, of Superior Aquatics placed second in the girls 100 butterfly and qualified for the zone championship meet later this month in Grand Junction, Colo. Johnson also placed third in the 200 butterfly.

Dairion Wallis finished first in the girls age 11 freestyle in 31.24 seconds. It is one of the top 16 times in the United States in her age division.

In other meet results, Michelle Smith, 12, of Superior finished first in the state 50 freestyle. It was her fourth straight state title in the event.

Matt Bissen of Superior was second in the 100 butterfly and third in the 200 butterfly in the boys age 16 division.

soccer teams to play locals today

The Rogue Valley Soccer Club will host two matches today against two teams from Germany at 4 and 6 p.m. at North Medford High School.

RVSC'S FC Eagles and the U-16 boys will play the German teams. The matches are open to the public free of charge.

football tickets on sale this week

Ashland High football season tickets will go on sale Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to — p.m. in the school's Athletic Office.

Current season ticket holders wanting to change their seats can exchange them for unclaimed seats after Aug. 12.

People can enter the lottery for season tickets by filling out a card and returning it to the high school office. The drawing will be held Aug. 19 at 5 p.m.

places fourth in golf tournament

Ryan Hosek of Medford tied for fourth place Sunday in a Pepsi Tour golf tournament at Wild Hawk Golf Course in Sacramento, Calif.

Hosek shot a 2-under-par 70 and won $180.

tournament to benefit South football

The South Medford High Golf Scramble, a benefit for the school's football team, will be Friday at Cedar Links Golf Course.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. and the tournament begins at 8 a.m.

Cost is $50 per person. There will be lunch and prizes.
