South camp scheduled for Aug. 9-13
The South Medford High volleyball camp is scheduled for Aug. 9-13 in the school gym.
Incoming freshmen through seniors will meet from 8 a.m. to noon daily. Elementary and middle school students go from 1-5 p.m.
The cost is $50, if preregistered or $60 at the door on the first day.

coaches to run girls basketball camp
-- A girls basketball camp sponsored by Oregon State University will be held at Scenic Middle School Aug. 9-10.
Players entering grades 4-7 will meet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and players entering grades 8-12 will meet from 3-6 p.m.
Cost is $30 and participants may register at the gym.
The OSU coaching staff will conduct the camp.
night slated at Timberjacks game
The Southern Oregon Timberjacks minor league baseball team and local service clubs have designated Aug. 11 as Drug Awareness Night and will recognize DARE program graduates at that night's game.
The first 100 graduates wearing their DARE T-shirts will be admitted free.
All those wearing their T-shirts will be eligible for a drawing for an outing on Lost Creek Lake.

registers ace at Stewart Meadows
Bob Kincaid registered a hole-in-one Saturday at Stewart Meadows Golf Course.
Kincaid used a 5-wood on the 190-yard fifth hole. It was his third ace in a 27-year golf career.
Bob Schmidt was playing with Kincaid and witnessed the shot.
Local teams top German opponents
A pair of Rogue Valley Soccer Cup teams registered victories against two German squads in an event sponsored by the Rogue Valley Cup Association at District Field Tuesday.
The RVSC Eagles defeated FC Kempter 7-2 in a 14-under contest. The Eagles took a commanding 7-2 lead.
In the 16-under game, the RVSC Crew broke a 3-3 tie on a goal with about five minutes remaining to register a 4-3 victory over FC Kempter. The Crew held a 3-1 halftime lead.
and Rec volleyball leagues are forming
The Medford Parks and Recreation Department is taking applications for adult volleyball and coed softball leagues for the fall.
