— Roberts, Wise — top peers at Stewart Meadows

Mike Roberts and Jim Wise, both of the Rogue Valley Country Club, each shot a 71 Monday to share the title in the Stewart Meadows Pro-AM at the Stewart Meadows Golf Course.

Dan Coughlin came up just short, finishing with a 72 to end the day in third. Bob Haney and Adam Yancey finished tied for fourth with a 74 while Steve Pellegrine and Jeremy Burrows each shot a 75 for a sixth-place tie.

In amateur play, the team of Jay Klemp, Brian Sackett, Paul Winterbottom, Charlie McFarland and Jim McMeen captured the team title with a 185 total.

Klemp also took home top Gross honors with a 68 and Josh Loy captured top net with a 64.

Pro wrestling makes its return to Southern Oregon Friday at the Reston Inn Convention Center.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with preliminary bouts scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Sponsors of the event are Rentown USA and Rock 'N Rodeo Bar & Grill.

Tickets are available at all Fred Meyer Fastixx outlets or charge by phone, 1-800-992-8499. Ringside (front row) prices are $16 and reserved (rows 2-6) are $12. General admission is $10 with kids 12-under at $8.

— — Rogue Valley YMCA — slates hoops program

The Rogue Valley YMCA is putting on a five-week instructional basketball program for first- and second-graders.

The Saturday morning program will focus on basic skills. Teams will practice for 40 minutes prior to playing short games.

The first weekend clinic is Nov. 13 at Abraham Lincoln School. At least one parent is required to be at the game to encourage or help their child.

The cost is $12 for YMCA members and $24 for nonmembers. For more information, contact Bill Johnson at 772-6295.

Southern Oregon University's Shelley Gorin was named Cascade Conference volleyball co-player of the week.

Concordia's Emily Weaver was also named.

Gorin, a 5-foot-7 sophomore, led the Raiders with 44 kills and 45 digs in 12 games, including a team-high 18 kills and 20 digs in a key five-game league win at Albertson.
