Fossen, Flood spur South past Eagle Point, 47-35

EAGLE POINT -- Eagle Point let a 15-10 lead slip away over the final two minutes of the second period of play as South Medford slowly took control of a Southern Oregon Conference girls basketball game Tuesday on the way to a 47-35 victory.

Heather Fossen led South Medford with 13 points and Ellena Flood contributed five points, eight assists, six steals and five rebounds.

The Panthers improved the season record to 10-7.

Eagle Point, led by Dusty Damon's 10 points, 10 rebounds and five steals, was outscored 15-7 in the final period, slipping to 3-12 on the season.

The Eagles only trailed 19-15 at the half and 32-28 at the end of the third quarter, but coach Tom McCracken said his team ran out of gas (in the fourth quarter).

They pulled away from us in the fourth quarter, McCracken said.

ASHLAND 60, GRANTS PASS 42 -- At Grants Pass, junior point guard Jenny Pippa poured in 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds, all on the offensive glass, as Ashland broke open a close game in the second half.

The Grizzlies (12-4, 8-0 SOC) led just 27-25 at halftime, but limited the Cavers (2-15, 0-8) to only 17 points after intermission.

The Ashland press became more effective in the second half and at one point late in the third and early in the fourth quarter forced Grants Pass into nine turnovers in 10 straight possessions.

Sophomore post Alicia Pilcher had a strong game for Grants Pass with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

NORTH LAKE 48, BUTTE FALLS 29-- At Silver Lake, North Lake remained unbeaten (4-0) in Skyline A League, Southern Division action after winning the make-up game.

The Loggers slipped to 3-2 in league play.

Butte Falls travels to Paisley today for a make-up game at 1:30 p.m.
