youth baseball set to hold sign-ups
Ashland Little League Baseball and Softball will be holding sign-ups for the 1999 season Saturday from 9 a.m. to — p.m. at the Briscoe Elementary School gymnasium.
A second sign-up will be Feb. 2 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hunter Park Senior Center.
Programs are offered for boys age 5-12 and girls age 5-15. Cost for registration is $40 per single player and $65 for two or more players in the same family.

Sign-ups for Ashland Babe Ruth Baseball will be held at the same dates, times and places as the Little League.
Programs are offered for boys age 13-18, with cost of registration $75 per single player and $50 for two or more players in the same family.
Participants in either Ashland league are asked to bring a copy of the player's official birth certificate for the registrations.

, Frum, Smith, Wood win scramble
Willie Reed, Ron Frum, Stan Smith and Earl Wood teamed to win the four-man orange ball scramble Wednesday at StoneRidge Golf Club.
The local foursome combined to card a 135 in winning the First Flight gross competition.
In First Flight net action, the foursome of Paul Paulsen, Razor Sharpe, Bob Blackford and Ken Gentry finished first with a 117.
wrestlers begin homestand tonight
The third-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling squad begins a two-match homestand tonight at 7:30 against longtime rival and NCAA Division I foe Portland State (5-11).
All three of the Raiders' losses have come against Division I foes, and SOU needs a split this weekend to preserve hopes of extending its NAIA-record consecutive winning season streak to 29.
Southern Oregon (2-3) will play host to Central Washington Saturday night at 7:30 in McNeal Pavilion.
