Lions tame Mustangs in opener

-- Hidden Valley's boys basketball opener was spoiled Friday night when Cottage Grove outscored the Mustangs in every quarter en route to a 65-42 non-conference victory over the Mustangs.

Willy Isley paced Hidden Valley with 15 points, while Dereck Horning added 12 points for the Mustangs, who trailed 33-21 at intermission.

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 60, GLENDALE 45-- At Glendale, the Challengers used a 17-2 run in the third quarter to surge past Glendale and improve to 3-1.

Junior forward Jordan Ferrell collected 15 points and 10 rebounds to pace Cascade Christian, with senior guard Andy Baker adding 15 points. Senior forward Will Vanderstoel chipped in eight rebounds.

Cameron Causey had 14 points and Justin Yow added 12 to pace Glendale (0-2).

PROSPECT 64, TRIAD 42-- At Prospect, senior wing Keith Howard pumped in a game-high 24 points as Prospect improved to 3-2 with a non-league victory.

Cougars point guard Donnie Andresen contributed 10 points and seven assists, while Zach Gordon added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Prospect used its pressure defense to force numerous turnovers en route to a 36-19 halftime lead. On Thursday, Andresen hit six 3-pointers and scored 28 points during Prospect's 66-51 loss to Milo Academy.
