registers first 300 game in Medford

Jerry Volz of Medford rolled the first 300 game in Medford men's league bowling Wednesday, turning the trick at Roxy Ann Lanes.

There have been two perfect games in the Rogue Valley Bowling Association, both coming at Trinity Lanes in Ashland.

Volz carries a 185 average but exploded for games of 248, 219 and 300 for a 767 series in the coed Ball and Chain League.

It was his fourth 300 game. The other three came in Wasilla, Alaska.

Volz has bowled for 15 years.

man wins S. O. All-Stars event

Blaise Bedolla of Sutherlin earned the championship in Southern Oregon All-Stars bowling Sunday at Nickel Bowl in Myrtle Creek.

Bedolla bowled a 208 to overcome Tom Flowers' 182 in the championship matchup.

Randy Cochran of Grants Pass finished fourth, while Medford's Bill Brickey came in seventh.

The next all-stars bowling tournament will be Jan. 22-23 at Indian Lanes in Roseburg.

youth bowlers fare well in tourney

Crater High freshman April Everist placed fourth in the Oregon Junior Classic bowling tournament recently at Strike City Lanes in Eugene.

The 14-year-old qualified for the B division finals in sixth place. She rolled games of 157, 142, 169, 143, 180 and 139 to win four of the six matchups in the finals.

In A division junior action, Holly Gibson, 14, of Central Point, placed fourth and Michele Rutigliano, 16, of Central Point placed sixth.

Everist, Gibson and Rutigliano all have qualified for the Tournament of Champions in June in Portland.

series tops among senior women

Annie Grayson bowled her season-high series and the high series for the year in senior women's competition Wednesday in the Medford Senior Mixed Pairs League at Medford Lanes.

The Central Point resident bowled games of 231, 210 and 245 for a 686.

Grayson entered with a 172 average.

scheduled for first day of year 2000

Resolution Run 2000 is scheduled for Jan. — beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Jacksonville Inn.

Pre-registration cost is $5 for the run or $15 for registration and a T-shirt. Entries must be received by Dec. 21. Day-of-race registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and costs $7.

Participants are invited to choose their own course distance of one to six miles on scenic Old Stage Road.

A complimentary champagne brunch at the Inn for all participants will be after the run.
