Comet — junior wrestling sign-ups are this week
CENTRAL POINT -- Registration for Junior Comets wrestling is at 6:30 p.m. today and Wednesday at the Crater High gym.
Youngsters 6 to 14 years old are invited to participate. The wrestling room is in Room 100 of the gym (turn left and go upstairs after entering the front door).

Registration for the Rogue Valley Family YMCA's Youth Basketball League for third- through 12th-graders begins today.
Teams practice twice a week, with games on Saturday mornings. Grades 7-12 go on Mondays, Nov. 29 through Jan. 29. Third- through sixth-graders go nine weeks following Christmas vacation.
The cost is $20 for YMCA members and $40 for non-members.

Medford Parks and Recreation has extended registration for the men's over-40 and over-50 basketball leagues to Dec. 3.
Cost for the over-40 league is $350. Cost for the over 50 is $295.

— — Civil War — tickets being auctioned on-line
Need tickets to the Civil War?
Oregon Live is auctioning two pair of tickets for the Nov. 20 Oregon-Oregon State football game on the internet with proceeds going to the Oregon Food Bank.
As of Friday night, the bidding was up to $106 for the $80 pair of tickets. The auction ends at noon Nov. 15.

— — Phoenix soccer — team captures two trophies
GRANTS PASS -- FC Phoenix soccer 14-under boys team captured the first place and sportsmanship trophies in the Grants Pass Recreational League tournament with three wins on Saturday.
The Phoenix team, boasting students from Talent Middle School, finished with a league record of 3-5 before winning the eight-team league double-elimination tournament.
Brenton Ferguson scored two goals in the championship game to lead Phoenix to a 2-1 win over the Grants Pass Storm.
Ashland was the first victim of FC Phoenix, falling 2-1 with two goals by Garrett Jones in the first game.
In game 2, Jones provided the only score for Phoenix in a 1-0 victory over the Grants Pass Vipers.
Phoenix goalies Jonathon West and Jonathon Rowden put up a combined 24 saves over the three games in the tournament.
— — MacInnis rolls — 624 series in tournament
Eagle Point's Dean MacInnis rolled a 624 series Saturday at the Roxy Ann Lanes Junior Adult Tournament.
The 15-year-old MacInnis had a high game 236 to go along with games of 219 and 169 in the junior boys division.
Ten-year-old Zach Uhles recorded a career-high 534 series while 14-year-old Holly Gibson from Central Point rolled a junior girls high series of 567.
In the male adult division, Jerry Asher had a high-game and high-series of 257 and 676, respectively.
Colleen Padilla led the women's division with a high series of 537.
— — Gibson bowls — first 300 at Roxy Ann Lanes
Dan Gibson rolled his first-ever 300 game Sunday during action in the Junior Adult Tournament at Roxy Ann Lanes.
The Central Point resident entered the tournament with a 208 average, but rolled a 267, 300 and 182 for a 749 series while competing with his son Robert.
Gibson's previous high was a 298. He is secretary of the Rogue Valley Bowling Association and is a longtime junior bowling coach.
