McCoy wins prestigious award for figure skating

Larissa McCoy, a member of the Southern Oregon Figure Skating Club, was recently awarded the Artistic Achievement Award for performances in her division at Portland's Spring Fest 2000.

McCoy skated to the music of West Side Story, and played the part of Maria during her routine in the pre-juvenile division.

The award is judged on artistic qualities, choreography with the music, variety, creativity, use of the ice surface and the manner and style of the skater.

Endrikat, Schnugg earn

national tennis rankings

Jonathan Endrikat and Scott Schnugg each recently received a national ranking from the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

Schnugg is ranked No. 80 in the boys 18-under division by the USTA for the 199 season, while Endrikat is ranked No. 112 in the same division.

Endrikat, who plays for North Medford High, is also ranked No. — in the boys 18-under division in the USTA/Pacific Northwest section.

Schnugg, a former North player, is a senior at Naples (Fla.) High and attends the Tough Tennis Academy.

Carlson rolls 300 game

in Grants Pass league

Jimmy Carlson of Medford rolled the third 300 game of his career in the Monday Night Mixed League at Caveman Bowl in Grants Pass.

Carlson followed up the 300 with a 224 and a 257 en route to a 781 series. He has two 800 series to his credit.

The 23-year-old Carlson was junior bowler of the year at Medford Lanes in 1995.

Cardoza notches ace at

Quail Point Golf Course

Bob Cardoza of Jacksonville scored a hole-in-one Wednesday on the ninth hole at Quail Point Golf Course.

Cardoza used a 6-iron on the 165-yard hole.
