Big names to appear at GP Rotary meet

GRANTS PASS-- Some of the biggest names in the history of United States track and field will be honorary guests at the 50th annual Grants Pass Rotary Track and Field meet on Saturday, May 6.

The special guests are Dick Fosbury, who revolutionized the high jump technique and won a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City; Alberto Salazar, a former University of Oregon standout who once held the world record in the marathon; and Bill Dillenger, a longtime coach at the UO and a three-time Olympian.

More than 40 schools will participate in the meet, which gets under way at 10:45 a.m. at Grants Pass High.
