Klamath tops Warriors, forges second-place tie

MERRIL — The Klamath County Crusaders ended the regular season with a 19-0 win over defending conference champion Rogue Warriors Saturday in Oregon Football League action.

With the win, the Crusaders and Warriors end the season tied for first, each with 6-2 records. The two teams will play next Saturday at Modoc Field at Klamath Union High for the conference championship. Game time is 7 p.m.

Klamath's Rob Walton intercepted Warriors? quarterbacks five times and took a punt return the distance for a 75-yard touchdown.

John Acosta kicked field goals of 32 and 49 yards for the Crusaders while Andy Kness hauled in a 17-yard TD reception.

This was the first Crusaders? win over the Warriors in three seasons. Earlier in the year, Klamath picked up a forfeit win over the Rogue Warriors.

GRANTS PASS 21, DOUGLAS 7 -At Winston, Robert Jackson picked up 80 yards on 19 carries to lead the shorthanded Grants Pass Marauders to the win.

The Marauders, suiting up only 13 players, limited the Douglas Outlaws to only 48 passing yards total in the second-half, while forcing three interceptions.

Jackson finished off Douglas with a two-yard scoring scamper with 4:45 left in the game.

Grants Pass finished the season with a 2-6 conference mark while the Outlaws fell to 2-5.
